Members Playing Guide

The Federation organizes two ongoing events, you can play as much or as little as you wish. These are the premier events. Anchored by our weekly Tournament Night (Wednesdays) and supplemented by Sundays.
Wednesday Weekly mixer
Always an online event. Double elimination 5pt matches. Quick fun play, usually completed within two weeks..Times are Eastern. We start playing at 8pm and end at 10pm. The invitations require an RSVP response or you will NOT be included in the 10-day bracket.
Also, often used for special events, (chouettes, tutorials, etc.) and any other Federation requirements. This night can also be used to play others for fun, ongoing MasterPoints™️, learning, socializing or spectating.
The BIG Bracket Tournaments Always a double elimination tournament, (15pts). Players are responsible to report their score immediately following their match. Both players must report or the result is not recorded.
The Big Bracket results are updated every Friday overnight on our website. See Competition menu item.
Sunday Backgammon Brunch
A great chance to meet your opponent and play or schedule your BIG Bracket match. Optional meet with no audio or video feed. There are NO INVITATIONS sent. Primarily to meet and play your BB tournament game.
Alternately, games can be scheduled as agreed by the players but in any case must be completed by the following Sunday. Unless you make a serious effort to seek out your opponent with the intent of advancing the bracket weekly, we will disqualify you by default and the ruling will be final.
Provincial Championships
Meaningful titles, held bi-annually, 10-week format, single elimination. Ask for more details if you intend to compete. Every Provincial Champion earns an automatic Sunday seat at the National Championships!
Prizes (Gift Certificates)
LIMITED NUMBER of wins. No more than one certificate per person per month for the weekly tournaments and only one BIG Bracket winner per quarter allowed. This ensures everyone gets a kick at the can and prevents grandstanding.
This also ensures we don’t become a casino and keeps the focus where it belongs; the development of YOUR PLAYING. If all you wanted was to play online for money, there are many websites who will take your stake and keep you gambling. Again - that’s not us. We’re here to BUILD a lasting National Federation with player development as the primary goal.
